Painting the Day Away
My friend Cristall Harper came to paint with me today and also my friends Lori and Nikki. It's so nice to have other people there. I never would have lasted 8 hours painting today if it hadn't been for them! Anyway, Cristall snagged some pics before she left so here's a couple of us painting at the Sout Jordan Animal Shelter. I'll take some better pictures tomorrow and post them so that you can see!

In Memory of the Soldiers
I know that Memorial Day is mainly for those soldiers who have given their lives to defend our country however, I think one can give of his/her life also just by serving. For example, my brother Matt--he's been gone on deployments and trainings for more than a total of four years out of the eight years he's been married. He's missed out on a lot of his own family time and I think that is giving of one's life as well.
My brother Cavett also served in Iraq for a year and a half. I know it changed his life forever. I will never be able to completely comprehend what serving in war is like...nor do I really want to...I'll take their word for it, but I will also say, "THANK YOU." In the words of my bro Cavett, serving in the military is something that has a purpose above us as individuals.
I forwarded to my brother Cavett one of those patriotic emails with pics of soldiers in Iraq and he wrote back and told me that one of them was a picture of the first guy in his batallion who died when they got over there. He had a wife and kids.
As a child I used to go to my Great Aunt Margaret's home in SLC and see pictures from WWII when she served as a nurse. One day we won't have to deal with wars until then..."suck it up and drive on!"
Thanks to all of you who served/serve/will serve! I am so lucky to live in such peace and harmony. Here I am just typing away with only the sound of the clock ticking and my little boy's breath. So peaceful. Thank you!
